Filmmakers from more than 40 countries have submitted their works to take part at the 6th edition of the International Green Film Festival.
The organizers announced on Tuesday that the event’s secretariat has received more than 800 movies in various categories so far.
The applicants are from 43 countries, including Spain, France, Italy, Mexico, Canada, England, Brazil, Germany, Russia, and the US.
This edition of the festival has planned to draw attention to sustainable tourism in accordance with UN World Tourism Organization that has decided to name 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.
The secretary of the festival, Farhad Tohidi, earlier in February said the event also has put spotlight on movies that promote green economy.
As Iran’s sole environmental event on motion pictures, founded in 1999, the festival regards other media on its sidelines as well.
The event that was first scheduled to be held in July has taken topics such as clean energy and sustainable cities into consideration in selecting movies.
However, due to the supposedly probable extreme heat in Iran, the main organizer of the event, the Department of Environment, postponed it until September.
The 6th edition of the International Green Film Festival is now slated for September 9-15, to be held in Tehran and some other Iranian cities.
